Earlier I posted that I kept all my swatches pinned to index cards in a box. Now I’m telling you I’ve somewhat refined that idea. Behold my swatch book!
Behold my swatch book!
Page 1: white and natural/unbleached linen samples.
Colored linen samples. There’s more than one page of this; I just wanted you to see the general idea. There are pages devoted to wools, cottons, and silks as well.
Section separation. Classy, right?
Empty pages! There’ll be a lot of need for these.
Back section: fabrics I don’t yet own, but really really want.
This section, like the first section, is divided chiefly by fiber content. Blends are placed in the back of that section, usually leading into the next section. For instance, a linen-cotton blend is between the last linen page and the first cotton page.
Notice that in the back section, so far, is all undyed. This way I can really see the fabric, not the color.

Whoa!
(Now I know who to ask, when I have not organized and don’t know where or what my stuff is!)
I don’t know that I could tell you where all your stuff is, but I’m pretty sure I know where most of my own stuff is. Most, I say.
